One of the challenges in working with the Law Offices of Angelina Venegas was the need for information to be shared not only via an internal network, but for the same information to be accessible from multiple locations and multiple people outside of the office.

Using off the shelf systems, I created a Virtual Private Network that allowed attorneys and staffers in multiple offices to access shared information on clients and cases. This allowed all parties access to the current version of these documents as they were updated by other members. It also allowed files to be printed at remote locations.

Another benefit to this set up was the ability to access the information without concern for the platform which was used to access it. Both Macintosh and Windows-based computers have access to documents and printers.

The greatest concern for the law firm using this set up was securing the information. Using 128-bit encryption the virtual private network is secured from unauthorized access and even those persons with access only have access to files which they are cleared to view and edit.
